Risk Management and Liability are two words that are sometimes difficult for police officers to embrace. For the officer and supervisor on the street it can often feel like administrative oversight and policy requirements get in the way of simply “getting the job done.” Many police leaders find it difficult to get past the frustration of all the legalese and court decisions that are often a part of liability training. Yet managing risk is a skill set that all good leaders should possess, and this session will look at risk management not as a liability or “CYA” issue, but as a valuable tool in the leader’s toolbox.
